ENERGY STAR finds its way to Canada

ENERGY STAR certifications soon to be available in Canada

Starting in early 2018, ENERGY STAR certifications for commercial and institutional properties will be available in Canada. Eligible Canadian properties that have earned the certification will officially be allowed to display the awards and promote their sustainable commitment, and it will be easy to identify energy efficiency leaders.

As of now, the following seven property types will be eligible to apply for certifications:

  1. K – 12 schools
  2. Commercial office buildings
  3. Hospitals
  4. Supermarkets & food stores
  5. Medical offices
  6. Senior care & residential care communities
  7. Ice / curling rinks

Is your property type not listed? Not to worry. Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is working on the development of new scores progressively, so your property might just be next!
