Starting your ESG journey
Getting ready to start your ESG journey? Helee Lev, Goby's CRO, has some tips that will help make the process a little easier!
So for those of you out there just beginning your ESG journey: What should you focus on and how should you approach it?
Today I'm going to talk to you about three things to consider when just beginning on your ESG journey.
First of all, think about why are you doing this in the first place? Who is your organization? Who do you want to be? What is fueling the ESG initiative that you're about to embark on? Really do some soul searching about how that aligns with your brand.
Then think about how you want to be portrayed and what you want your program to accomplish. Are you trying to be number one in the space, set the tone, be a trailblazer, and show the industry how ESG is done?
Or are you simply just trying to check the box and show that you're doing the right and responsible things and running a good business from the standpoint of potential investors and current LPs or stakeholders? That will help shape what kind of program you end up embarking on.
And lastly, the third thing to consider is how much budget and time do you have to allocate?
It's not just monetary value as to how much goes into putting together an ESG program, but also time, and oftentimes companies don't have a full time dedicated resource just for ESG.
That's where partners can come in to help supplement the resources that you do have, but again needs to align with your budget, your goals, and what you're trying to accomplish with your ESG program.
Lastly, think about where you're at now. Are you just beginning? Or are you seven years into an ESG strategy initiative and just trying to continue to raise the bar and do the right thing?
These are all things to consider when looking at an ESG strategy or program for your organization.
